Our March General Meeting is being held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, immediately following Divine Liturgy. There will be updates on the status of our church, completed projects, pending and new projects. According to our church constitution, you must be a member in good standing in order to vote. In part, this means being up to date in payment of your dues for 2024. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting.
Tickets for our annual Palm Sunday Lunch on Sunday, April 28 will be available for purchase tomorrow, Sunday, March 31, in the hall following Liturgy. Tickets will not be sold at the door. If you cannot make it to church to purchase your tickets in person, please send an email or call the church office at 773-889-4282 and leave your name, number and number of tickets desired. Someone will reply to confirm your reservation. Reserved tickets can be picked up and paid for on the day of the event when you check in after Liturgy in the hall. The suggested donation for adults is $30, children 6-12 years old $15, and children 5 and under are free. The proceeds will go toward the IOCC Emergency Relief Fund helping people in need worldwide. Please join us in sharing wonderful food and each other’s company while helping others.
The annual Easter Food Drive is part of the Ladies Auxiliary charitable giving program which benefits children and adults in need in our local communities. We are accepting donations through Bright Monday, May 6. Any non-perishable food items in cans, jars and seal packets can be dropped off in the church hall on the small table to the left as you enter. Please be sure to check the expiration dates. Thank you in advance for helping turn hunger into hope!
The IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) banquet is being held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Georgio's Banquets in Orlando Park. Tickets are $125 per person. We would like to have one or two tables representing St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church. Let us know no later than April 28 if you will be supporting the IOCC this year by attending their banquet. If you would like to attend, please contact Janet Papajani.
There will be a Ladies Auxiliary meeting this coming Sunday, May 19, in the Culture Room following Divine Liturgy. All women of the parish are invited to attend. Discussion and decisions regarding our 2024 charitable giving program, other initiatives and Ladies Auxiliary sponsored events will be made. New faces and new ideas are always welcome!
We invite the Graduating Class of 2024 to participate in the Graduate Recognition Sunday being held on Sunday, June 2. All children, youth and adults of our parish who are graduating this year and their families are invited. Father Ignatius will give the graduates a special blessing at the end of Divine Liturgy. Refreshments, provided by the Ladies Auxiliary, will follow in the church hall for all our graduates and their families. Please email the graduate's name, school, email, photo, graduation date and brief biography to: church@stnicholasalbanianchicago.org. Come and let's celebrate your achievements and successes together!
Help Fr. Ignatius start his new life in Chicago by making a monetary or gift card donation to contribute towards setting up his new apartment. He will not be bringing much with him, so any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Monetary donations are needed to help fund basic furniture like a kitchen table and chairs, living room sofa, chair, coffee table and end tables, bedroom dresser, nightstand and bed frame. The committee to oversee his arrival will make all the necessary purchases so that Fr. Ignatius gets exactly what he needs. Gift cards from Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc. will also be welcome and used for purchase bedding, towels, and items for the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Please send your check in the mail with “Fr. Ignatius” on the memo line or you can also drop off your donation at the church office. Should you have any questions, please contact any parish council member. We thank you in advance for your generosity.
